COMMUNITY VISITORS SCHEME (CVS)

Funded by the Commonwealth Government

The Community Visitors Scheme is funded by the Commonwealth Government and is a service provided by a volunteer to those who are at risk of social isolation or are lonely by providing friendship and companionship.

The Community visitor or volunteer will offer connection to the community by visiting you on a fortnightly basis for a one-hour visit. You may wish to spend this time chatting, going for a walk, reminiscing, playing board games or simply listening to music and having a cup of tea. We believe this scheme would improve the quality of your life.

Clients and visitors are identified and connected taking into consideration their cultural background, language or similar interests. Time of visit can be arranged according to your preference. Older people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities (CALD) living in the North, East, South West and South East Metro Regions who are currently on a Home Care Package are eligible to apply. This is a free service and no payment is required.

Our volunteers have submitted police clearance and receive training to provide this service.

Referrals to access this program may be made by you or a family member/friend, GP, Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) or through your Service Provider.
